Over the past decade, we’ve seen an explosion in the popularity of high protein diets and the number of foods manufactured with added protein. If we take anything away from this food (and societal) trend, it’s that protein must be important. And it is! But do we need these extreme diets and added-protein specialty foods, or can we optimize our current practices to enhance our protein intake?
During this presentation, Dr. Milliron will unpack 3 popular high protein diets to clear up misunderstandings and oversimplifications; and she’ll describe 3 optimization strategies to enhance your protein intake (without boutique foods or fad diets!)
Speaker: Brandy-Joe Milliron, PhD - Associate Professor, Department of Nutrition Sciences, Drexel University
Dr. Milliron (pronounced “MILL-IRON”) is an Associate Professor in the Department of Nutrition Sciences at Drexel University, where she works as a community nutrition scientist with training in cancer prevention and management, bio-behavioral sciences, and nature-based health promotion. While she has a broad background in obesity prevention, her current research activities focus on the development of nutrition and wellness interventions to prevent cancer and improve healthy cancer survivorship, as well as family caregiver health.
